Are you an emerging animation director or designer looking for a screenwriter? Or a screenwriter seeking an animation director or designer to bring an animation project to life?

SACD in collaboration with l’ABRACA, l’ASA, deAuteurs, le Folioscope, de Scenaristengilde, and the Unie van Regisseurs invite you to the 9th edition of the Belgian Animation Rendez-vous. Literary authors, screenwriters, and animation directors and designers, applications are now open for an exciting series of encounters at the Anima Festival. The deadline to apply is Thursday, January 30, 2025!

The 2025-2026 edition of the Belgian Animation Rendez-vous begins now !

What are the Belgian Animation Rendez-vous?

A professional and artistic “love story,” written in three acts:

  1. The classic speed dating: Individual meetings between authors at the 2025 Anima Festival, followed by a shared lunch to get to know each other better.
  2. Three coaching sessions throughout the year:
    • Check-ins on projects with expert screenwriters and animators.
    • Preparation for pitching and public speaking, just before the 2026 Anima Festival.
  3. A public pitch session: Present your projects to a panel of producers and other industry professionals during the 2026 edition of the festival.

Good to Know

The public pitch session will take place during the 2026 Anima Festival, giving authors time to develop and refine their projects for presentation. The program is also open to literary authors with published works that have potential for adaptation into animated films.

Call for Applications

Eligible Authors and Projects

Applications are open to the following profiles:

  • Literary authors (novels, graphic novels, children’s literature, etc.) who wish to adapt one of their published works into an animated series or film.
  • Screenwriters with:
    • A script project seeking collaboration with an animator.
    • Interest in adapting a literary project or scripting an existing animation project.
  • Graphics authors with:
    • An animation project requiring collaboration with a screenwriter.
    • Interest in finding scripts to animate.
  • Directors with an animation project in need of collaboration with a screenwriter or seeking scripts to animate.

Eligible projects include short films or (web)series, whether fiction or documentary.

To encourage creative connections, selected candidates will have access to the other project files online shortly before the big day. Selected candidates will also have access to a private workspace for three half-days at the MEDAA.

La SACD en collaboration avec l’ABRACA, l’ASA, deAuteurs, le Folioscope, de Scenaristegilde et de Unie Van Regisseurs lance la 8ème édition des Belgian Animation Rendez-vous.

Les Belgian Animation rendez-vous – Anima 2025

Le programme des Belgian Animation Rendez-vous a pour but de favoriser les “coups de foudre” artistiques entre différents profils de professionnel·le·s afin de permettre la création d’un projet d’animation.

Il s’organise autour de trois étapes :

  1. Un speed dating : des rencontres individuelles entre auteur·ice·s/scénaristes et réalisateur·ice·s/animateur·ice·s dans le cadre du Festival Anima 2025, suivies d’un lunch pour faire plus ample connaissance.
  2. Trois séances de coaching réparties sur l’année pour :
    • Faire le point sur les projets avec des expert·e·s en scénario et en animation.
    • Se préparer au pitch et à la prise de parole en public.
  3. Une séance de pitch public : Lors de l’édition 2026 du Festival Anima, un an après le lancement, les participant·e·s présenteront leur projet devant des producteur.ice.s et des professionnel.les de l’industrie.

En bonus :  bénéficier d’un accompagnement pour constituer un dossier solide de demande de subsides ou à présenter à des sociétés de production !

Profils et projets éligibles 

Les candidatures sont ouvertes aux profils suivants : 

  • Auteur.ice graphique et littéraire de roman, bande dessinée, littérature jeunesse, illustration, …  car vous souhaitez qu’un de vos projets (déjà édité ou non) soit adapté en série ou film d’animation ;
  • Scénariste, que vous ayez un projet de scénario pour lequel vous cherchez un.e animateur.trice ou que vous souhaitiez adapter un projet littéraire ou scénariser un projet d’animation déjà existant ; 
  • Designer, que vous ayez un projet d’animation pour lequel vous avez besoin de la collaboration d’un.e scénariste, ou que vous recherchiez des scénarios à animer. 
  • Réalisateur.ice, que vous ayez un projet d’animation pour lequel vous avez besoin de la collaboration d’un.e scénariste, ou que vous recherchiez des scénarios à animer. Sont éligibles des projets de projets de courts-métrages, de web série ou de  documentaires. 

Pour cette édition, l’accent est mis sur les auteurs et autrices émergent·es souhaitant poursuivre leur professionnalisation. Les profils confirmés sont également les bienvenus !

Schrijf je dan in voor het netwerkmoment en coachingproject ‘Belgian Animation Rendez-vous’ tijdens het Anima festival 2025. Het initiatief richt zich in de eerste plaats tot beginnende auteurs, maar staat ook open voor meer ervaren creatieve professionals.

De editie 2025-2026 van het Belgian Animation Rendez-vous begint nu!

Wat houdt het in?

  • De klassieke speeddate: Individuele ontmoetingen tussen auteurs op het Anima Festival van 2025, gevolgd door een gezamenlijke lunch om elkaar beter te leren kennen.
  • Drie coachingsessies gedurende het jaar: Check-ins over je project met deskundige scenaristen en animatiefilmmakers. Voorbereiding op pitchen en spreken in het openbaar in aanloop naar het Anima Festival van 2026. 
  • Een openbare pitchsessie: Presenteer je projecten aan een panel van producenten en andere professionals uit de industrie tijdens Anima 2026.

Welke profielen kunnen zich aanmelden ?

  • Graphic author with an animation project requiring collaboration with a screenwriter or a director.
  • Literaire auteurs (romans, graphic novels, strips, kinderboeken, etc.) die één van hun gepubliceerde werken willen (laten) bewerken tot een animatieserie of korte film.
  • Scenarioschrijvers met:
    • een script in ontwikkeling én op zoek naar samenwerking met een animatiefilmmaker
    • interesse in het aanpassen van een literair werk of het schrijven van een script voor een bestaand animatiefilmproject. 
  • Animatiefilmmakers (regisseurs, art directors en animatoren) met
    • een animatieproject dat samenwerking met een scenarioschrijver vereist.
    • interesse in het vinden van scripts of literair werk om te animeren.

Welke projecten komen in aanmerking? 


Korte films en (web)series, zowel fictie als documentaire.
